Our adventures with star link mini. Spoiler alert - it's amazing!

Hold onto your hats, adventure-seekers, because we're about to trade traffic jams for open roads and city lights for a canopy of a million stars! Imagine this: waking up to the gentle hum of nature, brewing coffee with a view that changes daily, and having the freedom to chase sunsets wherever they lead. We're talking about shedding the shackles of the conventional and embracing the ultimate off-grid lifestyle in our trusty camper van!

But let's be real, even when you're unplugging from the daily grind, sometimes you still need a lifeline to the outside world – whether it's for remote work, checking in with loved ones, or, let's face it, streaming your favorite tunes to your Chillantix adventure boombox!

That's where the magic of Starlink comes in! Forget spotty campground Wi-Fi or relying on elusive cell signals. Starlink is our digital umbilical cord to the cosmos, bringing high-speed internet to the most remote corners of the Earth. So, while we're out there embracing the wild, we'll also be seamlessly connected, proving that you can absolutely have your wilderness cake and eat your high-bandwidth too! Get ready to explore, connect, and live life on your own terms – with a little help from our rolling home and a whole lot of Starlink goodness.

Wait a minute. You don't have a Starlink mini? Well, let's start there.... You're gonna love this.

Now you need a plan. Not a trip plan - a Starlink plan my friend. You can see the latest pricing on the ROAM plans below. You're gonna be mobile so need a ROAM plan. The sweet thing is - you only pay for the month you use and can pause until the next adventure. There's no prorating but still a good deal. Here's the coolest part - we were offered a $10 month for 10GB plan if we stopped pausing all the time. 10GB is fine for basic needs and extra GBs are only $2. No more reactivation and having to remember to deactivate after our trips. The offers are always changing so use the google machine to see what available today and fits your needs.

Lots of sap Russ, lots of sap.

Our Starlink dish, bless its digital heart, is a true marvel – assuming it has an unobstructed view of the heavens. But inevitably, we find ourselves in the most picturesque, tree-dense locations, transforming our pursuit of high-speed internet into an impromptu game of "how high can you climb?". No more arborist skills needed. You can stay on terra firma and use this sweet setup to improve your starlink view of the sky; locking in those satellites like never before.

So whats the good word (or three)? Telescoping Flag Pole. Mount this puppy to your ladder, and you can easily hoist your 'link into the heavens. Give it a quick twist to lock in the tilt and you're live on camera 3!

There are lots of options here. We built a custom mount, and went full blackout. However, now there is a nice pole with ladder mounts available ! Bolt and go!

Connecting the Starlink to the pole is easy peasy with the HOLACA adapter. Skip the cheap plastic ones cause watching your link plummet from 20+ feet is not a good time.

We inserted a short piece of pvc pipe into the mount, and is now just slips on the flagpole nice and tight. You can just use the bolts - but we're always on the move so prefer the quick setup & take down.

Mount it up!

Since the mini is for life on the move, it's best to limit the risk of damage as much as possible. We use the same cases from our Chillantix Adventure Boomboxes for our gear. For the Starlink mini - the MEIJIA fits the bill.

A place for everything and everything in its place.
